Ministry's Mission:
We assist those members of the parish who have lost a member of their family to death in their funeral planning. The ministers are to assist the clergy in the preparations of all vigil, funeral and commendation services. They are to be a liaison with the mortuaries, cemeteries, and all other ministries (music, Legion of Mary, etc.) in service planning.

Membership Requirements:
Ministers must stay current on bereavement ministry and resources. They attend relevant diocesan workshops and contact other parishes that have a bereavement ministry.

Ministry Duties:
After the mortuary representative or family member has contacted the rectory secretary requesting a particular date and time for either the Church and the presence of a priest if necessary, the bereavement minister will be contacted by the rectory secretary to complete the following: Contact the mortuary for any special details about services. Meet with the family or a representative to plan the service. Obtain information about the deceased for the clergy. Prepare the church for vigil, funeral, or memorial services. Greet the family on behalf of Sacred Heart Church before the service. Seen a condolence card on behalf of Sacred Heart Community. Enclose information about available support groups. Invite those who have lost a family member during the year to the All Souls Liturgy November 2nd.
