Our Lady of Charity Conference of St. Vincent de Paul Society

email:  shc.depaul@antelecom.net

Ministry's Mission:
Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic Lay organization, leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to the needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frederic Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul.

As a reflection of the whole family of God, Members, who are known as Vincentians, are drawn from every ethnic and cultural background, age group and economic level.  Vincentians are united in an international society of charity by their spirit of poverty, humility and sharing, which is nourished by prayer and reflection, mutually supportive gatherings and adherence to a basic Rule.

Organized locally, Vincentians witness God’s love by embracing all works of charity and justice.  The Society collaborates with other people of good will in relieving need and addressing its causes, making no distinction to those served, because in them Vincentians see the face of Christ.

Membership Requirements:
We accept all people of any race, or religion the only requirement is that you have to be willing to serve the poor and homeless without being judgmental. There are many ways to do this.  Our Conference has two main programs, the homeless and the poor families. Please read the article “Who Are We?”  There are many behind the scenes things to do.  It takes an army of volunteers to do what we have been called to do.  We are all Volunteers and our rewards are in heaven.   We serve Lancaster, and Quartz Hill areas.

Ministry Duties:

Our Family program:

Families call in and request food, a team of two will take food to their house and introduce themselves and have a very short visit.  This requires an experienced member to take out a new member until they are comfortable to carry on with someone else.  It is an excellent mission for you and your friend.  It’s also very rewarding.

Our pantry Chairperson is always looking for someone to help her in the pantry with behind the scenes jobs such as filling bags with soap, powdered milk, rice, beans, peanut butter and sorting food and stocking shelves.

Our garage Chairperson is always a need to help sort clothes and arrange donations that come in.

Our feeding program:

We also feed the homeless the four mornings we are open.  This requires someone to cook and prepare the food and bring it to the center.  Many times groups of people get together and decide to bring all the same dish and it’s not such a monumental project for one person. We serve from 9AM through 9:30AM.

This is not a morning breakfast; it is a morning meal that means, soup, macaroni, sandwiches or whatever.

Holiday baskets:

We have other programs throughout the year that we help people through the holidays.  These I’ll report on later.

As you can see we are a very busy Conference and always in need of volunteers as some have to leave others come to pitch in, Thanks be to God!

Our hours at the Center are Mon. Wed. Thru. & Sat. from 9AM to 12Noon.  If you feel called to help us please email: shc.depaul@antelecom.net and we will get back to you.

We have our meetings the second and fourth Monday of every month at our Center at 45107 Beech We also have a Quarterly Rosary and Mass followed by a Pot Luck.
