Eucharist Holy Communion Procession
In our
Eucharistic celebration there are three principle processions: the entrance
procession, the communion procession and the closing procession. The focus
during each of these processions is Jesus Christ who becomes present on the
altar during the celebration. While focusing on this presence of Jesus, we
are encouraged to join with one another and the musicians in song to our
God. It is right and fitting to sing during these processions.
Particularly during the communion procession, we should focus on Jesus who
we are about to receive. We do this by song, reverence and focus. This is
not the appropriate time to greet others in the pews or to have personal
conversation while others process toward the altar to receive Jesus. This
is everyone’s time to focus on Jesus. The sign of peace is the appropriate
time to greet those around you or before Mass begins or after its
conclusion. Although you may see people that you may not have the
opportunity to greet at another time, this is time for Jesus. Please try to
keep this focus during this holy procession. Let us instruct one another
with love and reverence as we each journey closer to our Savior Jesus
Christ. |
