Catechumenate
The second period in the process of Christian initiation. After a period of
initial inquiry about the faith, interested persons publicly state their
intention before the Church and become catechumens. It is at this time that
they are “joined to the Church and part of the household of Christ” (Rite
of Christian Initiation of Adults, n. 18) and enter the catechumenate.
