Intentions to Join
At first
I had no intentions to join the RCIA class. My mother had been
mentioning it here and there for several weeks. A couple of months
before the RCIA class began my father and I attended a men’s retreat which
was really inspirational and like nothing I had ever experienced. When
it finally came time for the RCIA class to start, my brother and I were not
sure what to expect. I felt like it was something I was supposed to
do, not because it was expected of me. I had a feeling that it was
meant for me to be there.
The RCIA
class has answered all the questions I ever had about Catholicism and more.
As the class went on, week after week, I began to realize how fortunate I
was for having persistent parents wanting to lead us into the right way of
life in Catholicism. Deacon John Charters as well as Anne Black, Irene
Reuter, and Angela Rodriguez did an excellent job of clearly explaining and
helping me realize the importance of Catholicism, the Holy Eucharist, and
our role as believers in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Now more
than ever I look forward to continuing my spiritual journey. I know
that I am far from perfect on my journey. But now that I have guidance I
know where to go when I feel lost and believe that what I’ve learned is what
is right as I prepare to enter the kingdom of heaven. I am not sure
what Jesus has planned for me, but at least now I know that He does have a
plan, not just for me, but for everyone.
